First of all, I think you have a beautiful heart for accepting this guy's sexual orientation. Second of all, in knowing of his gayness and wanting to be friends makes you even more special! It sounds to me you two would make good friends since you're already in the right foot with him within your acceptance and sharing small talk. However, to get things started, perhaps just simply ask him if he'd like to have lunch as friends one day or something. Explain a little to him how you feel and you'd like to pursue a friendship. Try to be clear since he's gay and you don't want to scare him away into him thinking you want to date him. Good luck Frenchi!

find out his likes and dislikes and maybe go see a movie or go out for lunch together when you are at work, it is easy to be friends with gay men, and I am a straight woman too and I also have another straight female friend that has been friends with one of my dearest gay male friends longer than I have. I am sure that he is a sweetheart as I have some good gay male friends and all of the are like that. He will be sure to appreciate your friendship as he knows that it is coming from your heart and since he does know that you know that his is gay it will make things a lot earier in being friends as you don't have to worry about one or the other getting fresh with the other. Just talk about your likes and dislikes and find out about his and before you two know it you will be good and dear friends, or like in my case tell him about any kind of drama in your life and he may have some drama in his life too, that is how I made friends with that first gay man, and we still tell each other our little dramas, that and we vent to each other by way of cussing at AND to each other and laughing about it.

If he's openly gay it will be so much easier, all you have to say is you seem like you're a really fun person, would you like to hang out sometime? But the problem with that would be if he's not openly gay he might think you want to date him

Just ask him what kind of things he's into, hobbies his interests stuff like that and tell him yours, see what you have in common. And just tell him you think he's a cool person and if it's okay w/ him would it be okay if ya'll hang out sometimes! Good Luck!

Start saying stuff after the "Hi how are you." Ask him how his night was or if he's doing anything fun for the weekend. Conversation should start coming a little more naturally after that and then y'all could eventually go get lunch together or something.

Buy a pizza to share with him or make him some good homemade food and you have nothing to lose.

just ask him if he wants to spend some time with you. let him know that you think he's a cool person and that you'd like to be friends.

you're only pushing your luck if you're asking to be his girlfriend or something
