Was he the last mob mole standing; or a very p'ssed off ex-SIU agent avenging his partner's (M. Sheen) death and cleansing the dept. for good?
I may get both opinions here but wanted to see what shows up.

The latter, he was just taking care of business. The envelope that Billy (Leo DiCaprio) gave to Madolyn had Dignam's contact details if anything were to happen to him, so that he could deal with Sullivan (Matt Damon) personally.

He knew that Matt Damon's character was the mole for the mob, and was responsible for having Leo Dicaprio and Martin Sheen's characters' getting killed, so Damon got a well-desreved payback.

Mark W. is VERY pissed off and avenges the deaths of both his boss (M. Sheen) and his undercover agent (Leo) by killing the mob mole (M. Damon).
