Does he have a bald head for a movie or is something else goin' on?

I figure he is old and practically bald anyway--has been for a long time. So why not shave his head? Looks a helluva lot better than the comb-over Donald Trump does.
Besides, shaving you head seems to be the thing to do these days, ie, Britney Spears. :-)

He's doing a movie, called the Bucket List:
"Two terminally ill men escape from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die."
The cancer thing for the film would explain the shiny pate.
