They try to figure out what would get us to buy that new car and we need cars to drive so its not like the are trying to get you to buy something that you dont need right? So why is it manipulation?

Yea, help them help us help them make money. I have taken a marketing class and believe me, it's manipulative and they do try to get you to buy things you don't need.. AND many people then do buy things they don't need.

Didn't we go through this about 4 days ago? They make the terms SEEM! so easy but when you get there there is so much red tape that it leads to frustration.

But as far as manipulation.. Sure it's manipulation, how else they going to get you to buy something you don't want nor need?

no but since we live in a material world and ppl keep inventing newer and better stuff it makes people think what they have isn't good enough. in psyc we learned that in a lot of ads they will show people like moms taking their kids to soccer in a mini van or something and so if moms see it they will think well maybe i need that cuz my kids play sports. or putting a good looking model in an ad to make it more 'appealing' or if you like the person you are more willing to buy it. yea if you really do need something it's not manipulation but the way they portray things it is
