Yes. What's the point? I actually regret giving my now 11month old a pacifier. It's soooo hard to get her not to use it. She's starting to walk and I think children look so silly over 12 months with them. She's off the bottle and no longer needs her sucking reflex. So what's the point of it? I understand security but parents should introduce another security item such as a bear or something. My friends daughter is 2 1/2 and still uses hers. They are a very hard habit to break at an appropriate time. There's nothing wrong with finger sucking to a certain extent. She did for a couple months and stopped on her own. She never tried to thumb thing. Perhaps it never floated up to her mouth in utero??

If your baby doesn't want a pacifier then don't worry about it.....this is a good thing....pacifiers are just used for calming a baby down....and it is VERY hard to break a child of it....consider yourself lucky:) I know i have 3 children. Having a pacifier isn't really good for them.

In me and my friends' cases, the baby either took to the pacifier from birth or never took it. So I guess that's it, your baby can't be fooled :)
It's not such a bad thing - no worries about having a four year old that won't give it up, or dental problems or anything.

Yep some babies never want a pacifier. My daughter is 13 she never took one. My son is 9 months he very seldom took one and stopped altogether other then wanting to chew on it by 5 months.

Yep! If you offer the pacifier and your baby refuses, you're being told that your child has no interest in the item.

One less thing to deal with in the future!

pacifiers should only be used as a last resort to settle your baby, and then baby's should ideally be weaned off them by four to five months.
I chose not to use one with all my four children, saves the pain of weening them off and they really are not terribly good for the child's teeth development anyway. They can also interfere with feeding, so why would you want one anyway??
Be glad your baby didn't need one!!

Yes give up as they obviously don't want it, not all babies like them.....but just be careful that they don't become a serious thumb or finger sucker as even at this age that can effect their teeth development. Just ask your dentist for advise on this if it becomes a problem.

I never took a pacifier, my sister took one until we had to force it away from her when she was almost six. some kids like them some don't. I wouldn't force it if your child doesn't want it.
