By whose standards yours or theirs?

The thing you need to realize going into such a discussion is that you can both be right without agreeing on anything.

The intelligence is in accepting the obvious.

Sure. Just because someone believes that much in the Bible and God doesn't mean they are not intelligent. You will probably not reach the same conclusion at the end of the discussion, because they have a little twist tossed in (faith) but sure you can have an intelligent discussion. That's like asking if it's possible to have a spiritual discussion with someone who doesn't believe the Bible is the final arbiter of truth.

Well, that depends on what you think about what is happening around you.The Bible has been around for a long time obviously, keep in mind that over the centuries, A LOT has been added and taken away, (whole books disappeared). Now, is it the final arbiter of truth? Some of us are taught that there is no questioning whether or not this particular book is the final judgment, HOWEVER... I feel it may be describing a future predicted thousands of years ago.

I think that we can help ourselves more by the energy that we cast out into our cosmic situation. If we cast fear and nervousness we will cause that to manifest. SO if we think oh crap, hell on earth, then we will manifest it...Look what we are doing to OURSELVES now...WE don't even think our wasteful ways matter. WE are told global warming isn't an issue and we are only kidding ourselves.

The Bible is the words of one God as translated and edited by humans that had a goal based on a hierarchy of power and a congregation of supporters both verbally and monetarily if they tweaked the product.
There are other Gods and Goddesses that have done similar or exactly the same.
There are some Gods and Goddesses who have not asked to be paid via prayer and sacrifice.

It is as possible to have an intelligent conversation with someone who knows the Bible is true as it is to have one with someone who believes that it is not. Whether you are religious or an atheist, you are entitled to your opinion & may argue intelligently to defend it.

The only death of intelligent conversation is a closed mind who refuses to discuss anything and is not open to hearing other viewpoints...
