All belts are off?? Wow, perplexing. That only leave the transmission. I've never heard anything in a V8 engine do that.
Or... maybe a tiny exhaust leak that is whistling. Since I can't hear the exact sound, I'm unsure.
I would think you could pinpoint the location a little more with some help.

Have a freind put his foot in it slowly an try to identify where its coming from. Make sure the fan isn't scraping the shroud. Have heard a water pump can do this when going out, but if all the belts are off, that couldn't be it. Start it an make sure the starter is not staying engaged, an the only other possible thing I could think of other than the tranny is possibly the timing chain.

WOW!!! I'm stumped too! Somebody said the flywheel access cover-it's possible. When you find out -post it so I can stop thinking about the issue please!
My brother in law had a '64 SS Impala that would make a bad noise when accelerating hard in drive-it was a motor mount broken and the fan would rub the fan shroud. But only in drive.

This isn't the problem, but a step to find out what is. Check your motor mounts. See if they are warn. Whenever I hear "Punching Gas" non expensive noises, it is one of the first things I check(after the belts of course like you did already). Besides, all that torque (okay, not by today's standards) and rubber mounts should be warn after 20 years. Espescially with all that oil you dripped on the one side from "forgetting" your funnel.

i own a repair shop, and that's one that has me stumped for a minute or two, with all the belts off if it the noise has to be coming from with in the engine its self,i had a 305 that did this once in a while and it was the front main engine seal causing this after replacing that it was alright, but it wasn't as loud as you said yours is,but with just the engine turning over and the transmission,it has to be in that general area some where, good luck on finding it,maybe this will help some.

that does no longer be a solid theory. to start i'm no longer precisely particular the sparkling coat might adhere to exhibit steel. additionally sparkling coat might come off extremely undemanding, the slightest scratch or touch with something abrasive might reason it to flake top off. additionally long solar exposure might have the comparable result. Even washing it ought to probably harm it. whilst the sparkling coat comes off there's no longer something to guard the steel to any extent further and that should point rust. additionally, i'm particular there is a few regulation that states each and every vehicle ought to have a coloration to it. In ohio you're required to discover the colour of you vehicle whilst registering it. in basic terms sand it down, fix any rust harm, best it and paint it.
