I do it because it's fun and lots of questions do make you think. Also it helps me understand what I think of a situation or idea or opens my understanding to the way someone else things of something. A lot of answers are way better than mine and in fewer words!
It's not bizarre and by the lists of questions in so many categories with so many answerer, we are not alone!

This is fun.Expressing our mind and feeling to others,in an informative ways, some express their question and answer in rude and angry ways, some are funny. Some really need ,answers to their problems. Yes maybe we that are alone,or I won't be sittting here infront of my computer typing my answer to you. Bizzare is inappropriate to discribe people here in this website. Unless you consider yourself bizzare BECAUSE YOU ARE IN THIS WEBSITE...

Lots of reasons.
Mine - In 2001, due to negligence I died, since then I've been ill. Some of this makes it difficult to get out. I had to retire from my job as a teacher which I miss.
There must be lots of people like me, very disabled, or just ill, or waiting to get better, like a friend who has to rest because she's getting over colon cancer.
Many young people had parents who did not give them pride in family and therefore pride in themselves. My father did and he constantly praised me (I'm so lucky) If you have no personal self-esteem this can give rise to -
shyness, depression, a lot of 'isms' like alcoholism etc.
With problems like the above one can - just sleep / drink /gambol /abuse others / etc your life away. All are either useless or actually harmful.
Yahoo answers is definitly NOT harmful. In fact it can be HELPFUL.
Yahoo answers is a gentle, harmless, educating, way to get back into or get into in the first place - our society. And it is a learning process for communication skills.
Keep going girl.
One day you'll stand on a podium and listen to the clapping as you communicate with the real world. LUV, TAKE CARE.

Well, it depends on the person, I'm here because i work night shifts, and well since i have the computer in front of me, i say why not? But i think its not just only that "we" feel alone, but i think it has to do with the media, i mean if u think about it, its all about technology, and without it, one cannot survive in this day of age. But hey, there people that are lonely, so like i said, it depends on the person.

but are we ?
consider it this way ...
before the net what did many people do ? many sat in front of television sets and didn't react with others ..
before the TV there was radio and people often sat around the radio ( in family groups)
BUT before radio and tv there were many more social outings... church dances town meetings etc etc and people did interact more...
the net IS bring a form of reconnection for many people .. ideas and opinions can be exchanged .. instead of sitting like a blob on the couch just soaking in whatever the boring television is sending out .. we are here thinking about the questions being asked and interacting...
I interact with people at work .. and with my family and friends.. BUT this is a form of relaxing without stagnating or vegetating ..
The net is what you make it ...

I am not alone. I come here sometimes when I can't sleep. I have had insomnia for years and the meds don't work as well as they used to. Sometimes during the day I will stop by for ten minutes or so for the heck of it.

I can't speak for everyone else but I am bored. Perhaps a little lonely. Other than that this gives me something to do and just perhaps I can help 1 person with real problems.

I (personally) spend time on it to help others and learn things myself.
I find it kind of refreshing to watch the wisdom of groups of people can help one person get something done.

It's not bizarre if you are disabled, ill, agoraphobic, suffer from social anxiety, are snowbound, or are trying to help others. There may be other valid reasons, too. Females tend to be more social than males; there are relatively few female hermits.
