Not enough info here... notice for what?

A calendar month is a month. So, my guess would be that if the event were happening on the 15th of the month, then you would have to give notice by the 15th of the previous month, etc.

No.

I believe you maybe referring to a rental period.

It means that you must give notice at the end of the month for termination of the agreement at the end of the next month. So if you wanted to terminate at the end of March you would give notice at Feb 28th.

Now if you give notice near the fifteenth lets say then you would have to wait about six weeks till the end of the next month. If you didn't give notice til the 2nd day of the month lets say March second you couldn't terminate before April 30th.

This is why it is always wise to send the termination letter to the rent owner or leasor by a dated register letter or by courier. It is dated and at the point of dating that is the legal point of notice. Not when the recipient signs for it.

It is assumed that any such document to be signed is going to get to the leasor rather promptly. In many jurisdictions a courier letter or registered letter is considered equal to a notorized document.

And always be profuse with the date on the termination document /letter. There are so many landlords and leasors who seem unable to recall exactly when they did receive notice because they get another months rent/payment. They always forget when its to their benefit. Remind them.
