To catch the weekend crowds in their first few days

Because most people go to the movies on the weekend. They want to catch the most viewers right away so that they can build the hype . then those people will theoretically go to work on monday and create some word of mouth advertising!

One reason is because of the college crowd and friday being the last working day..

So more people will go to see it, Friday night is when everyone goes out so obviously more people will go and see it.
