Most kids are smarter than they're given credit for. They've grown up with the ideals and concepts of Punk and have adopted some of the fashions. If you listen to the Punk-inspired Red Flag by Billy Talent, you'll hear it. It's quite a statement, too.

Punk is not dead, but planning the slow painful demise of emo.

No, punk's not dead. I'll give you that the music on the radio is not punk in any way, shape or form, but there are some really good bands out there still making punk, it just takes a lot of effort to find them.

I think that punk music has gotten too mainstream, and you're right most kids are in it for the fashion, just like Emo. Kids today have no idea what real punk and real Emo actually are.

Punk was in for two weeks in 1977 <-- lol

nah punk isnt dead... it will die when the greatest punk band.. Rancid.. breaks up. (sarcasim)

seriously.. punk isnt dead. still zines that are out there. shows every weekend (in los angeles at least). kids starting their punk bands in garages trying to play like the casualties (old stuff) the exploited, gbh, one way system, the lurkers and others. it will never die.

the stuff now that people consider to be punk like afi, green day, my chemical romance, fall out boy is all trash. theyre are destroying the punk image along with people on television shows portraying a "punker" with peircings and wearing all black but it will never go away.

No. Just all the great punks. What's left is a sort of cornhusk, complete with corporate backing.

I dunno if it ever really lived that long before it became what it was railing against. Just listen to the Clash and never mind the Pistols.
