I haven't heard anyone say that races don't exist. Instead, I've heard that all races are equal in value as well as innate ability. I think that the lines between "races" are becoming more difficult to define, at least in America, as the melting pot effect works its magic. In sociology, a distinction between "ethnicity" and "culture" is usually made, and the word "race" is less-often used.
I agree that racism is far from dead, but I do not think that it is because the victims of racism haven't "earned respect." It takes time for ideas to seep in, to deepen from mere intellectual acceptance and reach emotional belief. I am happily suprised that American culture has progressed as far as it has in the past few decades. That progression, I think, is due to the strength and passion of people who have fought for truth in the face of incredible hardship. If you don't consider men and women like Martin Luther King worthy of your respect, then I doubt it's worth earning.
People of all races are worthy of respect simply because they are human, not because of their actions.

Aren't you quite the character. You are saying that if somebody else came from a different country and were a different color they have less of a right than you to exist in a different country. A country based on what Political boarders?????? Each and every person no matter their race should have equal rights anywhere they are. I mean wasnt it the europeans who brought the blacks to america to use as slaves. You say its a problem and an invasion, well it was your kind of racism that brought on the idea to go and get these people from another nation to be their slaves, and now complaining that they are around at all. Wasnt it the whites who came to the native americans country and took it over and stole the way of life. And your complaining about invasion. My goodness, your ideas are flawed!!! What makes you more special that somebody with a different religion/color skin/ homeland than you?

Race doesn't matter, but culture may.
It's basic biology. All people are basically the same, with different pigmentations due to their long-ago relatives' place of origin. They have developed different facial features after hundreds of generations of moving away from our common point of origin.
And people are raised within a culture and assume its characteristics. It's not too likely that you would be a big rodeo fan had you been adopted by a Japanese or Somalian family as a small child.
I get sick of feeling like the only one who is accepting of others. I look at behavior, not color or country of origin, although I have had to train myself to do that.
I know in my heart that the environment in which we are raised is the most important factor, because it determines our behavior.
Since you refered to the Michael Richards incident, I assume you are talking at least in part about black people. I know an elderly lady whose purse was snatched at a mall by a young black man, then returned to her by another man. She never mentions that the guy who tackled the robber and brought back her purse was black, too.
I assume that one of the young men was raised well and the other was not. One was taught to respect others, obey laws and display civility, and the other was not.
I also assume you have had experience with people of different races who have shown a lack of civility. I think a lot of that is due to a defeatist attitude instilled in traditionally poor and undereducated people by politicians. Certain blacks, whites and hispanics all clamor for their rightful slice of the government pie if they are "underpriviliged." It's not just people with brown skin, and not just recent immigrants -- it's the white folks, too.
I am middle class, white and a member of Mensa. I have been born pretty lucky and I don't to ask the government for anything. However, Condoleezza Rice or Antonia Novello could outthink me right into the ground.
A black and an hispanic, and both females! What has become of the world?

Racism should be dead and over. It is a horrible thing that has taken many lives. I really don't understand your little rant about respect. It is well known that get respect, you must earn it. And there is just one race. The human race.

Last time I checked, this was a free country. I have a right, so far, to think the way I want to.
You talk about Kramer, how about the Jessie Jackson's in this country...He is one of the most racist, race baiting people in this country. Of course since he is black, it is OK for him to say anything he wants.
I will dislike anyone I want to regardless of race, religion or national origin.

If no one from another race has earned your respect it's because your ignorant and haven't given them the chance.
People say it's over because it's should be. Most of us in 2007 recognize people for who they are and not for the color of their skin.

possibly this is because of the fact racism is composed of totally developed human beings - no longer fetuses. this is frequently nicely-known that fetuses haven't any emotional thoughts or any psychological progression. And it form of feels that in the time of western society the place racism and abortion are huge subject concerns, psychology is very much valued (nicely a minimum of in the sides that I see as helpful). absolutely everyone who has developed something bearing on the strategies is concern to humanity because it form of feels, it is, secure practices against what's seen as inhumane collectively with racism. while fetuses (as argued by utilising professional abortionists) are undeveloped human beings so no longer yet have those psychological factors that make up a genuine individual who could earnings from humanity. possibly this is because of the fact we don’t opt for to re-stay the shameful happenings of the previous. Racism has performed a great area in historic past and probably we would opt for to pass on from that. Our ethical standards at the instant are thank you to severe and subtle from such indecency, because it form of feels. The horrors of Nazi Germany have certainly displayed this, alongside with many different activities/happenings. to the different, abortion continues to be correct at present. It nonetheless impacts human beings’s lives at present because it did 50 years in the past. Our morals and values nonetheless linger around this undertaking and question its justifiability. the main necessary cost of human beings is arguably the renovation of human existence. Abortion is composed of a human’s existence and no count if it is going to stay or die, and so as that makes it a controversy which will in no way have an absolute answer. yet possibly abortion is not extra nicely-known than racism. I don’t think of you are able to truly say that with such actuality. are you able to be responsive to this for advantageous? persons are nonetheless judged by utilising their race at present. And the cutting-edge international could possible settle for abortion as popular prepare, yet this view of the hundreds is questionable. i think of besides.

"outside invaders" so you can say whatever country you are in, you are native to that country!? Your parents, grandparents or great great grandparents would have imigrated to the country you are in, so basically you are an immigrant as well. And i'm sure down your family tree, you have mixed races in there.
