Even if it bolts up (to mtr) what will happen with the engine making 250HP & 280lb/ft torque? Will it tear up in a short amount of time? I do plan to run it with a 2.56 or 2.73 rear end & its in a 88 caddy brougham so it will be a heavy car.

Your combination is ok for basic transportation ONLY! With that rearend gearing and that much weight from the car it will be hard on the tranny. Is the tranny fresh or is it a used item-that will determine how long it will last. I've used a 200-4R for a Monte Carlo for performance but it had professional upgrades to it and it lasted for over 80,000 miles till I sold the car. I used 3.73 gears.
Your horsepower is ok...But those gears are tough with that kinda weight! Normally a stock TH400 or a 700-R4 would be a better choice for long term.

200 rf isnt made for abuse if its a low gear like 2.56 or 2.73 a turbo 350 or 400 will work and those are hard to break

it will grind that transmission up like a pound of beef in a meat grinder. trust me, i had a 4.3 v6 attached to one of those with 130 horsepower, 200 ft/lbs of torque, and IT tore that transmission up horribly at only 55,000 miles. just spend the extra cash and get a TH350, TH400 or 700R4. it's well worth it.

If you install a shift kit and do not abuse the car, it should last 100,000+ miles with normal maintenance. We are talking about a new or rebuilt transmission, right?

Why would you want to do that when the 700R4 can't stand up to the 350?

It will work, until you try to drive the car.
