No, you don't have to. Some people just have great talent at a young age and don't need classes or lessons because it comes so easy for them.
I highly recommend them though. Especially if you are just now beginning to consider acting as a path you want to take. If you have no previous experience definitely try acting class and audition for something close to you. some after school acting academies have a production they put on. Audition for something local and see where your skills belong. If you need to develop them more take acting class. If you seem to be doing fine without (getting lead roles) then go for bigger better things. Remember though becoming an actor is a hard path.

I guess there could be some kind of an "instant discovery" thing happen - and you could get hired based on your look and an audition. But - it's HIGHLY unlikely. If you want to be an actress - you must have the drive. The drive includes training. It's as simple as that.
I'm wondering if JRP (John Robert Powers) has shown up in your town and told you that you have a chance to appear in Disney movies/shows - but that you'll need to take their classes first. Well - that's a crock. They are running around the country making money off of lots of kids dreams right now - and you DON'T need classes from John Robert Powers to be be cast with Disney. (although, they'll lead you to believe that). Actually, your chances of being cast - just because you took their classes - are probably no better than if you just had some college theatre major work with you a bit. I swear. JRP is a major rip off.

Do you have to? No. But I think a lot of people think it's easy or based on natural talent. While it always helps to be talented in any field, I don't believe that's enough. Would you try to be a ballet dancer or a pianist without taking lessons? Probably not. Acting is the same way. I think the great actors study the greats. (Stanislavsky, Misner, Uta Hagen, Etc, etc, etc. ) Most great actors study their craft for as long as they work in their field.(Robert DeNiro, for example). Anyone can get on stage or in front of a camera and recite lines, but only actors can bring the words off the page and reach the audience in a way that makes it look effortless, like anybody can do it. While it's true that you may be "discovered", in reality that hardly ever happens. Especially as you get older, agents and casting directors look at your resume to determine the kind of training you have. They realize that a comitment to training usually translates to a commitment to the craft and the business. An actor is never finished learning. I reccommend looking for acting classes or camps in your area. Start auditioning for your local theatres. Then get some headshots and put a resume together with whatever experience you have. (Classes, workshops, theatre camps, showcases and local productions) and send them to agents in your area. But don't be fooled by companies that pose as agencies and ask for money for to represent you. You should nevr pay for representation. They take a percentage of what you make AFTER you get you a job. Period. Best of luck to you.

No, definitely not.
Acting is almost all natural talent. Either you have it or you don't.
Different types of roles/jobs, require different audition approaches sometimes. But the general rule is, if you're a child/teen, you have to be quite extroverted, very natural, and interesting.
It never hurts to turn on the video camera and practice an audition/meeting. Most younger people with natural talent have no fear of the camera.
As an adult, it's a little different (but not that far off). Robert DeNiro...for example is quite shy in person and in interviews.
Times are a bit different now though.

Anything worthwhile you want to do requires effort. No, you can't just act. I know you'd rather listen to all of the people who said you don't need the classes, but they are flat wrong. Get your hands on a script you've never seen performed. Act it out with your friends. Have someone tape it. Do you think any of you will look professional? No, you have to train to be a professional anything. It only looks easy.

As a working professinal actor I would say yes. It develops your skills and art. Being educated in acting is a must. Just like being educated in brain surgey is a must if you want to perform it and not hurt someone.
