A message saying "microsoft internet has encountered an error and must close" and the internet crashes causing all my internet windows to close. Thanks for all you can help me with.

i used to have that problem... most of the time its a virus... try scanning.. also restart your computer once its done.

They are several reason this could be happening. Probably not a virus. If you have DSL, it could be a bad phone filter. You know those things you plug in every phone jack. Make sure you have one in every phone jack. When your Internet crashes, see if anyone is on one of the phones in your house. If so that's the line most likely causing the problem. Just replace that filter.
Try some of things others have suggested first, so you don't have to spend money on filters you really didn't need.

1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. On the Advanced tab, click to select the Disable Script Debugging check box in the Browsing section.
4. Click OK, and then restart Windows.

Do a scan disk on your computer. After you do that head over to the windows update page and re-install your internet explorer.

Oh clear your history and internet file folders before you do anything.
