The phrase your thinking of is morphed a bit.

I can't find the comedy routine but I recall one was in Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in when this guy in a German helmet jumps up gives a line or two and gets a pie in the face. Response... he either licked it and/or said "I feel dat."

Kids of that time thought that was hilarious. Well it morphed into general phraseology and integrated into a quip for a short time.

There was a another comedy duo who did a similar routine. It could have been Rowan & Martin again.

Melvin Kaminsky aka Mel Brooks had a similar phrase with one of his bits on the Sid Cesar show. He was doing a take off on the fortune tellers. Really quite good. Now forgive me but trying to recall the exact script from those shows is difficult. Its only fifty years ago. But you got the time period 50-to mid 70's.
