Personally, I am proud of her accomplishments. But, do you think that people are going to expect a higher quality of work now that she has an Oscar. Will it be too much pressure? (Honest and mature responses please).

I think it is a huge advantage. There are others out there that would kill for that exposure, and pray they could perform with the exposure she's gotten. Also, look at what happened after Jamie Foxx won. Jamie wasn't considered an A lister at all until his nominations. He can demand more money, and get better roles. Even Queen Latifah's star power boosted just from a nomination. They haven't gone downhill as stars. They have only rose in star power.

Plus, Jennifer is no overnight success. She may not have been on TV for us to see, but she definitely paid her dues. Singing on cruiseships, performing at any old place just to get noticed. It is a hard thing to do and she has been persisant unlike most people who would have given up quickly after doing the same grind over and over again. I think with her faith in God and her willingness to do her best, she will be fine. Jennifer seems to be mature enough to handle it. That is a great question though.

I hope winning the Oscar won't hurt Jennifer's budding career. It's not so much that producers/directors might start questioning the quality of her acting, it's Hollywood itself I'm worried about. Hollywood is so fickle, most of the time they want an actress to have a certain look. I would hate it if she has a difficult time trying to find work after so much success.

Yesterday, I watched the CBS Sunday Morning show and they interviewed Jennifer Holiday, the first actress to protray Effie White in Dreamgirls on the stage. She certainly had some highs and lows. One of the things she lamented about was that she had no job offers after she finished here stint as Effie on Dreamgirls until the producer of Ally McBeal called and offered her a small part as a gospel choir leader. I don't want what happened to Ms. Holiday to happen to Jennifer Hudson. I sincerely want her to succeed because she can act and sing and deserves more movie roles and a singing career.

Well...it will definitely boost her earning power. That little Oscar means big dollars. It's too early to tell how she'll handle the pressure, but the Oscar is an advantage.

I think some what disadvantage because about what you said with expecting more from her. Anna Paquin wone an oscar for the Piano and I don't see her around anymore. But people like Nicole Kidman have gone on to make many more great films, I think it has something to do with the fact she has been in the business longer than Jennifer Hudson, And Im affraid people might forget her after this, unless she continues to stay affloat in Hollywood which is apparently very hard work.

I don't think an Oscar ever really hurts. It shoudl immediately boost her earning power, and from now on, at the very least, she'll be referred to as, "Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson."

If she makes smart decisions, she could be very successful in the future. It really depends on her choices and how she is accepted.

Why would it be a disadvantage? If anything it should bring more work to her. And help people see how great of an actress she is.

Remember Louis Gosset, Jr.? He couldn't get a job doing commercials after he won. I think it's too soon. She's not really an actress, she's a singer and she has yet to come out w/a cd! She'll be offered lots of roles, but she will have to pick good ones if she wants to continue in the field.
I think she should go to Broadway after this.

I think that it is a total advantage to her career. Of course this comes with a responsibility that I think she had a taste of by making this movie and she did it well.

I think it's an advantage for her because more directors might ask her to be in their movies and she might be accepted into more movies that she auditions for.
