Swans can kill people. I never realized this, I always thought of this bird as an extremely beautiful, even delicate species. Then a few years ago, I read a news-paper article, which changed my mind about this bird which was the centre piece for the famous ballet : Swan Lake. Some school children , writing about how they had spent their vacation, said that they were attacked by a flock of vicious swans. The child described the attack, vividly. I came to the conclusion, that swans are very dangerous, they can be vicious. According to the account by the young writer, the group of picnickers were nearly torn to shreads by the birds. They were not killed, because , luckily for them they were rescued in time by observers to the incident.

I don't know if they can kill, but they can sure attack. I was with my two daughters at a park when they were 5 years old and 5 months old. We were feeding the ducks at the lake. These two swans swam up, so I started feeding them too. Then they got out of the water so I held out a piece for them and one darn near took my finger off. They started chasing us, which was scary because I was holding my 5 mo. old and had my 5 yr old by the hand trying to run with both of them. We didn't look back until we got to the car. I had a bad cut on my finger that needed stitches. I really wouldn't doubt that if there were more than two or three of them they could do some serious damage to you if you had no where to run. Same with wild turkeys!

No. The Monarch merely has the suitable to possess Mute Swans contained in the united kingdom, (by means of fact the twelfth century). all varieties of swans are risk-free by using the organic international and nation-state Act 1981 which makes it an offence to intentionally kill or injure any wild fowl or their eggs. This excludes 'activity' birds that are risk-free under activity regulations. the optimum penalty for killing or injuring a swan could be £5000 or 6 months reformatory for each fowl. Mute Swans on the Thames are monitored and examined in line with annum contained in the 'swap Upping' ceremony. examine the RSPB internet site or DEFRA for further archives on organic international legislations.

They are pulling your leg - with what would a swan kill you with - they have no teeth or claws. Swans are very passive unless you threaten their young
