The day when a newborn is born is in fact his day of birth. Is it OK to celebrate his birthday?

The thing is that in my country we celebrate the anniversary but we do not have a birth day party on the day of birth. In Spanish is "feliz cumpleaños" wich means "hapy year of birth" and I never heard before a birthay party with 0 candles on labour day! I was wondering if here in US you can bring a balloon saying "happy birth day" to the hospital. In my country it would sound funny. We bring instead flowers, gift and so forth but not a "feliz cumpleaños" although is the 0th anniversary

Isn't that what a birthday is? The actual day of their birth?

I guess I'm a bit confused by your question here....

We have birthday months, the entire month is about celebrating the birth of the person....

I have twins....so Yayaya! Double the fun!

Of course! Why not? It is actually the baby's only "true" birthday. All others are actually only the anniversary of the birth.

That's a lovely idea and it makes perfect sense to me. I would be nice for that custom to catch on worldwide.

I don't see how it can hurt. do it if you're into that kinda thing (but NOT as some lame excuse to get gifts)
