I've been trying to re-install this printer for two weeks now and have asked half a dozen friends. No-one has ever seen this mesage before. I start the installation with the driver, it begins, this message comes up, it asks me to click 'yes' if i want to repair it and then, HEY! nothing happens! It worked fine before. Please help!

2. Click Run
3. Type in REGEDIT
4. Click on HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE
5. Click on System
6. Click on Current Control Set
7. Click on Services
8. Click on Spooler
9. Click on Depend On Service on the right hand side
10. This should open a Edit Binary Value window
11. Delete the rows corresponding to LexBces only and then select OK

Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools > Services.

Scroll down the list and look for Print Spooler. It should show a started status. If not, right-click on the line and select properties. Then change the startup type to Automatic and click the Start button. If it has a problem, you'll see some other popup. This should fix your problem.

Print spooler is a service that allows windows to interact with printers. If the print spooler service isn't on windows can't interact with any printers so you cant print. I don't know of any way to start this service other than restarting and of course you've done that plenty of times. If you have windows XP run a system restore (allprograms > accessories > System tools > System Restore) to a couple days before this happened. If that doesn't work try re-installing windows.

It seems that somehow the spooler service is disabled or not set to start automatically.

I will assume that you are using Windows XP. Click Start and Run, type "services.msc" and hit ok. Look for "Print Spooler" somewhere middle of the list.

If the service is available, the status should be "Started". In your case, the status would be blank. Right click on it and Start the service. Right click again and in Properties, set Startup type to Automatic so that the service will start up automatically next time.

To open Services, click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services.

Look for printer spooler and turn on... set for auto start - up... good luck..
