Depending on what it is - the furnace I don't touch except to change filters - but just about everything else I look to see if I can do the job. I actually fix about 50-60% of what goes wrong the rest goes to the pros.

I usually can tell if I can do it myself or I need an expert. Roofing, electrical and plumbing I call someone along with anything that requires crawling under the house! I just don't go there!

I put it on my todo list and basically procrastinate.
The gf ends up eventually calling a handyman.
Our tenant happens to be a handyman, so it works out well. He gets a break on his rent, and we get our stuff fixed.

If it is something fairly simple, I try to do it myself. I have become quite independant over the years. If it is something more substantial, I just call my landlord and he takes care of it.
