No matter how much energy I spend during the day, no matter if I didn't drink caffiene, sometimes I just can't fall asleep. One time, I was awake for over 24 hours and I felt so tired and so depleted, but when I lay down to sleep, I woke up 3 hours later and rolled around in bed uncomfortably until I finally fell asleep after another 3 hours. What's up with that???? Does anyone have any natural remedies that might help? Please no sleeping pills or meds.

I am a chinese medicine practitioner. What your experiencing is "Fire Flaring Upward Disturbing the Heart". It may not be caffeine, but the acidic coffee or other factors, like stress or improper diet. This is really mostly stress related. Try meditation and herbs like camomile as suggested. Also Valerian would be very effective. The main key is that you are tired but can't sleep. Try taking a multivitamin as well.

Clearing your mind of daily worries and concerns by journaling might help. Reading or watching TV in bed might work as well. A soothing cup of hot tea with some quiet music just prior to going to bed....also maintaining a set schedule may help more than anything. Good luck...
