Well, if anyone was nervous, it would have been Jennifer, seeing that she is new to the Oscar ranks. However, she pulled off an exceptional perfomance in the presence of her newly adopted peers.
With that said, I think it was more of an air of competition between them on the stage. Beyonce seemed to push the envelope as hard as she could. I have to give it to them both, they hold their own in their own way.
I am going to quit bashing Beyonce, but I must say that she does need to stick to singing and stage performances. Acting on the silver screen is not something that she is gifted with. Why do so many stars try to become renaissance men and women? Either you can do it all or you can't.

I think it was just you Beyonce was happy for Jenifer they are both happy to be performing at the Oscars and was up for a big award you mistake nervousness for tension

who watched that junk besides jennifer hudson became so terrible on american idol, i couldnt trust each person acted shocked to make sure her pass they say she is a reliable singer, and that i wager i dont comprehend what technically makes someone reliable, yet she became so freakin loud and her voice transformations by surprise and her form is so performed.... and neither her nor beyonce is truly that fantastically. human beings will argue yet below all of it beyonce's sex charm is waaay puffed up beyonce is a fine looking singer to me notwithstanding, yet no longer jennifer hudson until eventually she's stronger dramatically

My take was that Beyonce was willing to burst a vocal cord if neccessary to outshine/out sing Jennifer, to the point of it taking away from her singing IMHO. Not sure I would say it was tension exactly, but definately competition and wanting to shine brighter. I was thinking I hope someone gets it up online soon cause I missed the very beginning and would love to see it all. Glad it wasn't just my imagination!

It's obvious they were competing. I think Jennifer upped her game when B came out.
