It means to quickly release the clutch. Usualy you would rev up the motor first, then wnen you dump the cluctch you will take off fast. you can also dump the clutch while your in gear to kill the motor. On a regular takeoff you let out the clutch slowly as you rev up the motor.

In the dirt, u would just let it go and the spring would snap it directly to drive, er, actually spin the tire to roostertail the dirt. In that manner u steer wildly to get grip and burn our in a berm in a turn. For more effective control in the loose stuff. Keeps the revs up for traction. It's what is done, just about always to get it out and on ur way. Then it's all about throttle and how much input u want. Higher revs may not mean more go so u may have to throttle down to get a better grip or "bite" Let the clutch out to regain the grip. It's fast action.

Dumping the clutch is when you let the clutch out quickly,or that's what we called it back in the 60's and 70's.

"dumping the clutch": releasing the clutch lever too quickly while in gear, end result "stalling out".
