Funny you should ask.
I've noticed that males are portrayed stereotypically as dumb, selfish and basically unaware of any sense of decency.
I present Homer Simpson, the male cast of 'Two and a Half Men and just about any commercial you see on TV.
Media is influential. We know this because big business spends the equivalent of a small nations budget trying to get us,the American public,to buy their products. So the TV is teaching it's viewers something.
My question is:why is television"teaching"men to behave so badly?
if you spend some time watching TV,ask yourself"is that male character behaving in a way I would want any man I know,to act?"
Roles are changing and we need to understand why.

Well....They stereotype males to be either malicious or play boyish and they won't ever give the role of a do-gooder to a man...And on the same lines, women are portrayed as,its saddening, sex symbol to be played with by men....But i'm not criticizing all the media barons...But the majority of the media houses are like this.

The media is not reliable ; therefore they stick to issues to sway one cause or another . They invoke images that do not necessarily represent Americans .

Males are considered out of style and not very necessary. They are only need for there sperm. which can now be bottled and saved for future use. Which means not as many are needed.
