I think it should be done, what is worse killing a fetus (which cant even indepentantly think) or bringing an unwanted unloved child into the world?

I think that first trimester abortions should be legal. It should be up to the mother of the child. Different people have different morals, religious beliefs, and lifestyles. Whether or not I, personally, would get an abortion would have to be something I would think about a lot in that situation. I hate how so many people above are saying that lots of people are unable to have a kid and want to adopt, therefore abortion is wrong. There are SO many kids that don't get adopted. People shouldn't judge others, but they should be able to choose for themselves. Also, it has been brought up that when it is the result of rape, it should be legal. How is that any different? I think that too many people believe babies should be kept as a punishment for having sex, which is a terrible thing to do to a child that you have all so clearly stated is innocent and pure.

Ok I hate abortion. I agree with you on the rape part. But if you're going to have sex at an early age, you are taking your own risk. Adoption atleast! I'm 16, im taking my own risk, if anything ever happened,i wouldn't go for the 2nd day pill, day after pill, whatever it's called! I have a friend who was raped, she never got pregnant, but she's got a disease. All because of some *******!! She always said she would never get an abortion, but that event changed her views. If you're raped, you don't want to look at your kid the same way. I mean, if you're raped, you don't want your kid to think they weren't meant to be. If my mom was raped by my dad(she wasn't) then i would feel that i wasn't wanted..although i was an accident, its the idea of it all. As far as minors go, I know this girl who went to my old school, she's really smart, 17 STILL IN SCHOOL..she became pregnant at age of 12, had a baby at 13. She hasn't been able to be a teen. But i think she made the right decision, she is a great mom, and never leaves to party...some 36 year old women/men do that, yet she is soo much younger.

This is such a tough question. I had an abortion once, 8 yrs ago, and I know I did the right thing, but there are a lot of times I wish I hadn't. I'm 28 now and have a 3 yr old daughter and am 5 months prego with my second child (both from a soon-to-be-ex-hubby) and I could never do it again. But I do feel that if it is rape, inscest or if the birth is a danger to the mother, than it is ok.

Abortion is murder, plain and simple. In the case of rape, it's a tough call, but one of my best friends was the product of a rape, and her mother never entertained the notion. As for minors, they need to be taught by their parents that sex leads to pregnancy and STD's, even with precautions, so unless they are ready to become a parent, they are not ready for sex.

Human beings are at the top of the food chain becuase we have the ability to restrain ourselves from behaviors and activities. We do not kill everyone that makes us mad, we do not steal what we want, and we can hold off on sex until we are mentally mature, and financially able to become a parent.

Another thing about abortion is the ''woman's right to choose'' that the pro-choice people spout...what about the father? He has no right, just responsibility. If the father of the child wants to raise it, and the woman doesn't, it's too bad, she can kill it. If it's the other way around, she can keep it, and legally force him to support it. If abortion is allowed to remain legal, then I think that it should be agreed to by both parties involved.

It is legal..in the US anyway. I don't believe that abortion should be used as a birth control method and I think it should be done as early as possible.

As far as some of the answers you are getting regarding a teenager facing her responsibilities...I would like to ask these people HOW this can be done? A 15 year old cant support a child..period. The responsibility then falls where? To the teenagers parents? The government? It's not fair to the parents and I personally dont want my tax money supporting welfare moms.

I don't agree with them except for the potential death of the mother, or if the baby has a terminal illness where it won't survive the birth or live long after. I'm torn on how I feel about rape. Since I feel that abortion is ending the life of a human being, it's hard for me to come to terms with abortion in the event of a rape, however, my mind does understand why a woman would choose this option. (Even if I couldn't choose it).

I don't judge anyone and wouldn't condemn a friend for choosing abortion. I would support her emotionally after the event, however, I know I wouldn't be able to lie to her and say I supported her decision.

It's not an easy topic at all and I think a lot of people don't really know how they feel about.

I think abortion should not be a solution. Kids think that by playing around with sex, they have many options: they think that the baby's father will be a good dad (not), they think they would like to play with a baby like a doll (that lasts a short time and then reality sets in), they think they will give the baby to their mother to raise (poor grandma!), they think they will put the baby up for adoption or abort the fetus. The last two options are terribly painful, emotionally, no matter how casual the kids are about sex. Many years down the road, a woman still remembers that she aborted something that carried her genes and would have grown into a child and then an adult. Sometimes women have the double pain of remembering this when it turns out they are infertile in later years. Adoption: the child always wonders who his mother was and why she gave him up.
I think abortion should not be an option unless the mother's life is at stake and that is so rare that it is hardly worth mentioning.

I agree. I don't like abortion, period, but special circumstances need special consideration. Just because you are a minor, i don't believe you are entitled to an abortion...if you were old enough to make the decision to have sex, you are old enough to carry a baby to term. Whether or not you keep it after the fact, is your decision. Now, if you are a minor who was sexually abused by incest, or any violent rape, then i can see abortion being an option. But it is not a right just because you were careless and had unprotected sex. Those are my beliefs.

I feel that abortion should definitely be legal, because then it will be safe. If its illegal and people have to sneak around to have it done (just because it's illegal, people will still do it) it won't be near as safe. Second, accidents and rapes do happen. I've experienced close accidents myself. I think abortions are ok if they are done as soon as possible, in the first trimester. After this, it should be done only to save the mother's life or in other cases like that.

I don't think minors should have any easier access to abortion than those over 18. They are still people and they still know exactly what they are doing.

I don't like abortions. I hate it when people who have unprotected sex get pregnant and have an abortion and do it all over again. In cases like rape I can understand why women don't wanna carry a baby that was conceived by rape but they should consider giving the baby up for adoption first. Also teenagers who have sex and get pregnant should carry the baby maybe it will teach them to close their legs. I don't think abortions should be performed.
