I say if you have in-house dyck don't stress. Just have sex as often as possible(like every other day or so) so there will be sperm in your body waiting when you do ovulate and don't be scared to have sex on your period some women ovulate during that time.

Many books will tell you that it is 14 days from the first day of your last period. I too have a 30 day cycle. I am not sure when I ovulated ( just got pregnant) it was planned but I never had symptoms of ovulating. I.e. - clear mucus etc.
Good Luck
P.s. www.mymonthlycycle.com can help you calculate when you are most likely to ovulate

You *usually* ovulate approximately 2 weeks before your period begins....if a 28 day cycler ovulates on day 14, then you would probably be day 15/16.
However, there are a lot of variables. You need to learn to observe fertility signs, which will help you pinpoint when *your* ovulation is. Every woman is different. You may ovulate on day 16, another woman with a 30 day cycle may ovulate on day 11.
Please check out Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. You can also visit boards associated with the TCOYF software at ovusoft.com The boards are free, and you can download a trial of the software to evaluate it.

Around the 14-15th day from the first day of your last period. This is the common time for ovulation although, everyone is diferent. An ovulation kit can help determine when you ovulate exactly. Here is a website that gives you some tips on how to detect ovulation without buying a kit.

Between ten and sixteen days before your period. In other words, somewhere between day 14 and day 20 of your menstrual cycle. You can get more accurate information about when exactly you personally ovulate by charting your fertility signs (basal body temperature , cervix position and texture, cervical mucous) or using an ovulation predictor kit, which is available with the pregnancy tests at most stores.

15-18 days. There are "ovulation predictors" online, where you type in cycle days and they can tell you when you are most likely going to ovulate. Just type in "ovulation dates" or something like that into yahoo.com and see what comes up! Good luck!
Here's a site i just found, there are lots like them!
