You don't say where you are from, but in Canada legally you have to be 16 before you can have a piercing unless a parent is with you.Wait until you are old enough, you may change your mind.

It doesn't really matter how responsible you are, your parents are saying 'no'. There's not much you can do when you're 13 unless you want to choose to go against their wishes and get it done somehow anyway. You'd be in so much trouble for disobeying them that it's not even worth it. The fake ring idea is strange and that might help but I'm not sure how. They might just tell you you don't need a real piercing because you can always wear the fake one.

I got my first piercing at 15 and it was my belly button but that was back in 1993 before they had all the age restrictions. I didn't tell my mom until a year later. I had it in for about 3 years until it got ripped out one day while I was in the grocery store and I just let it heal over. I have a stupid little scar there now and I wish I never had gotten it done. At the time it was SOOOO cool. Now it's embarrassing to admit I ever had it pierced. Keep in mind that you may really want to take it out after a few years and you'll be left with a scar on your face. You may not care about that now but you might regret it in the future.

(I'm not sure why you mentioned being SxE rather than being HxC. It was all the basically the same scene when I was a teenager and I'm not sure why that has anything to do with you wanting to get your lip pierced or how saying you're SxE somehow proves you're not trying to get attention!??)

**Oh, the above answer mentioned that 'soon it will be out of style'. Seriously, I thought it had become cheesy and trendy over 10 years ago when all the jocks started their tongues pierced.

I can't help convince your parents, but I can tell you that lip rings or lip piercing like brow piercings are simply gross. they hurt, they scar, they scream "look at me I want attention" and soon they will be out of style. Hopefully. My best advice to you is this, wait a year if you still are thinking about it without the peer pressure and without the doing it to get your parent's attention then do it but my bet is that you will have long forgotten about it and have moved onto something else that you know will drive your parents nuts. My 19 pierced her tongue in her first semester of college, I said nothing and in no way reacted, she was disappointed. Six months later she called and said she was thinking of taking it out. I said great, she said i want to go "_____somewhere" and would I pay for it if she took the stud out, I said I'd pay half of it. After she took it out she called and said she was going to do that anyway, I told her that I'd have paid three times that amount to have her do it. In the end, we both won, but you might not be so lucky, your father might rip it out and as a parent I would not blame him.

Well, in my opinion, lip ring make a person look 'dirty'! if that's what you are going' for, then okay, but if you want to look pretty (the only word i can think of right now) then don't get one! If you'd like to convince your parents then tell them that you have read up on this kind thing, so you know how to take care of it, then tell them you'll get your grades up to all A's and B's (if they aren't already) just don't go get the piercing behind their backs, then you'll just get the consequence of them getting it removed, and getting grounded!
