And no I didn't turn on the dryer I just set it in there carefully. I was just hiding it on him as a joke. What happened to it?

Possible explanations:

1. The static from some clothes may have shocked the PS2, causing it to be damaged.

2. You didn't handle it very well, and all the components jiggled around and damaged the console.

3. It was too hot for the PS2 to "survive" in those conditions, so it overheated and got damaged.

4. A certain someone happened to turn the dryer on, and guess what happened...

Well, it was an accident, so your nephew shouldn't really blame you for it. But I'm sure he's pretty upset, and it's best you sincerely apologize, as they aren't cheap. To cheer him up, maybe you should also buy him a new one.

Keep trying, coz most parts of a PSP is made with plastic, static shocks are very rare. Maybe is out of energy only, or humidity from the dryer got inside the PSP.
Try to activate the PSP 2 days later and see if the problem persist. If nothing helps, repair it in your closest Game station.
I hope this helps.

Clothes dryers are full of static electricity. Static electricity = bad for electronics. Also, maybe someone else turned it on?

Sounds like static electricity killed the ps2. Not a good hiding place for any electronic equipment.

Check the power connections and video connections. Maybe it's not hooked back up correctly. If it is..... sorry you might be making a trip to the store to buy a new one for the kid.
