Hello Everyone. I recently bought a Forrester for my wife and after driving it in the snow I loved it so much that I went out and bought an Outback ltd for myself. The only thing I havent been able to figure out is how to open the privacy slider for the rear sunroof. The front slider opens idependently of the glass. Is it possible to do the same with the rear?

The car I have definately has two seperate moonroofs each with an independant slider. The front one opens up allowing a view of the sky. I find it hard to believe that Subaru used glass (transparent) and then placed a fixed privacy cover over it. With some wiggling I can get it open an inch or two but thats it. The owners manual for the Outback only mentions using the electric swith to open both glass roof's.

The rear shade for the sunroof should open independently, theere is a smal handle that you push it back to expose the glass.I have seen one like this before and the shade was off track directly from the plant.Take to your dealer and they should fix it.You did not mention the year,sp Im assuming it is new.One other thing they should check is that the rerar of the shades is not behind glass, this would cause shade to operate abnormally also. The metal tabs that the shade has on it are very fragile and easy to bend,so try not to force it.Good luck.

Congratulations on buying the Outback. I have an '07 LL Bean with the "moonroof." I think it is the same unit you have on your car. There is only ONE slider in my car, so all you do is open it up further. Maybe I have not understood your question, but I don't have a separate rear "privacy" slider.

Our cars are different, then. I have a 2007 Outback wagon. It has one slider and that's it. The moonroof has a small front section that can pop up, if you like, but there is not a separate slider for that.

If you click on "Interior Gallery" and then click on the lower right hand corner of this group of pictures, there is actually a video of exactly what I've got.

Sorry I can't help you.
