I just turned 18, and thats great and all but what makes me wish it never happened is my family. Suddenly they are saying things like "You cant do that because your an adult now" or "Your not a kid anymore"....I mean, so yeah I'd rather watch a cartoon than watch the news and Im pretty free spirited and carefree...Doesnt mean that now Im 18 and I'll instantly be this perfect adult who does adult things. Its so ridiculous. Am I being oversensative? Id just like an unbiased opinion...

Annie,

I think the saddest thing that could happen is to completely "lose" the carefree kid in you. Don't let that happen.

I'm 39, and still watch cartoons.

Dear 18,
You should be happy to be 18! Even though there are more responsibilities, there is so much freedom and independence that comes with that age. Being an adult does not mean that you are old and like the new, you are still youthful and its okay to like watching cartoons and be carefre. Just be yourslef, nobody is perfect.
Sincerely, A friend

Me I watch (The Japanease Versions Of) Naruto, One Piece, Death Note. I come into work with a coke, I come home and play Super Smash Bros. (A Mario Game). But I'm fine. As long as you have a job and you hold yourself accountable for your actions you are a great adult. even though I do those things I am a responsible person who is just a happy person, like you. Your family is just steryotyping adults.

No one is ever fully 'adult.' Ice cream is considered something for children, but just think about how many people over the age of 18 eat ice cream? Video games, playgrounds, cartoons, all things 'kid' are thoroughly enjoyed by adults everwhere. These hobbies make you a person, not immature. Remind your parents that fun is for people, not just for kids.

Sounds like your a kid at heart, but since you are an adult, they would like you to take more responisbility. Maybe they are right..
