I would suggest that you start by checking with your local volunteer center. Volunteer centers specialize in finding volunteer opportunities that match your interests and meet real community needs. They usually have one-time, short-term, and long-term opportunities, and work with a variety of different non-profit organizations in your community.
You can find your volunteer center through the following links:

I started as a volunteer in the healthcare field, and it turned into a successful career for me. It's a great way of getting some basic job skills and experience. I highly recommend starting some volunteer work. It's very rewarding in manyh different ways.
Good luck!

Well a good place to start would be your local hospital. They almost always appreciate volunteers. From there you would be able to talk to others and find out where possibly you may find some work. You must be persistant because if one door closes, another one opens.
Another option would be one of the local churches near you. In either case, money is not everything. Yes, it is important, but sometimes a smile or hug mean much more than money ever could. Yeah, I know, you need the money...but by making other people happy, you will attract the same to your life...doubt it, and you will attract the negativity....only speaking from experience. Now have a great day and a better tomorrow.

as you say, you are poor, but if you are going to volunteer, find something,if you can,to learn a trade, being a girl, people might take more of an interest, try the local garage, be a mechanic, or try the local beauty palors, but try something unique, the local bicycle shop, learn to fix bicycles, or even motorcycles, but who knows, all those days are gone for me, try the local vets, and dog pounds, but than again, do what you can, those other suggestions are good, about hosp and care centers, wherever it is you are living, learn to rescue people, climb mountains, or swim in seas, but try all the local businesses, florists, party places, but it is difficult to find places who will take on people for nothing who want to learn, but you can do it, you know, what kind of place you live in, maybe you can work for people like raking their lawns and shoveling the snow, and cleaning their cars, do some of those kinds of things you could pick up some bread, sometimes, and in your spare time study magic, lol and read the bible have a good day and successful

If you volunteer, volunteer at a hospital, nursing home, church, thrift store, anything that gives good will. If you are looking to get into college one day, they will take volunteer work as a consideration on your application.

Try the local SPCA or animal shelter in your area. They are always looking for volunteers to spend time with the animals!

If there are nursing homes in your area, sometimes you can work there reading to the patients, doing manicures, just visiting old people that really dont have any one to pay attention to them. That is what my daughter does, she is 15.
