The east already lack competition to begin with and just doesn't seem fair that east teams will essentially be getting a bye for the first three rounds if the heat and wizards don't recover. A big part of the challenge of winning a title is that you have to win four series because a team can get lucky in one series due to upsets, but not in four straight best of seven series. Before jamison went down the wizards were leading the east and the heat are near .500 despite being healthy for only a few games, so those are the two best teams in the east.

To answer your question no. Secondly they are not the two best teams in the east. The Wizards even with Jamison in the line up are not consistent and don't play great defense. As for the Heat they were done before any injuries ever happen. With the exception of Wade the Heat are slow and unathletic. Wade and Dallas just folding are the only reason the Heat won the title last year.

Jamisons comin back in a week, and Wade might be back for the end of the season and playoffs. How two rounds though. If your assumption is right, then both teams would be knocked off in the first round (unless the heat miss the playoffs).
