Jock itch is a pretty common fungal infection of the groin and upper thighs. It's part of a group of fungal skin infections called tinea (pronounced: tih-nee-uh), and it's related to athlete's foot and ringworm (by the way, ringworm isn't really a worm - it's a fungus). The medical name for all of these types of fungal infections is a tinea infection, and the medical name for jock itch is tinea cruris (pronounced: tih-nee-uh krur-us).
Jock itch, like other tinea infections, is caused by several types of mold-like fungi called dermatophytes (pronounced: dur-mah-tuh-fites). All of us have microscopic fungi and bacteria living on our bodies, and dermatophytes are among them. Dermatophytes live on the dead tissues of your skin, hair, and nails and thrive in warm, moist areas like the insides of the thighs. So, when your groin area gets sweaty and isn't dried properly, it provides a perfect environment for the fungi to multiply and thrive.

alright heres a rundown
jock= your penis
itch= rash
its mostly developed through sweat and sports and not cleaning right
its just a rash in your downstairs area that is really annoying
basically
just go to the drugstore and ask for some jock itch powder or spray theyll give you some and youll be fine if you ever get it

Jock itch is a fungal infection, it is medically called tinae cruris. It is very common. The area is usually itchy, burning, and often is red. Over the counter medications will likely clear it up. If not, see your doctor. Don't be embarassed, they've seen it all. Good luck.

jock itch is an intense itching in the crotch (males) usually caused by a light yeast infection (yes guys get them too) or by excesive sweatiness

It's a fungal infection, very much like a fungal infection on feet called athlete's foot. It's NOt refering to the normal scratching of the private areas. See a doctor before it spreads to feet etc. He/she will prescribe an antifungal medication that will clear it up. He/she will also give you instructions on how to avoid getting it again.

This is a fungal infection in the groin area. It is extremely itchy. It is similar to athletes foot. There are over the counter remedies for this.

most guys get this from sports its a fungus that survive off moisture it causes the male to itch.

It is a fungal infection of your balls and areas surrounding your penis. It can be successfully treated with the following medications:
Clotrimazole
Tolnaftate
Miconazole nitrate
(the last one is Monistat, but it does work)
