you can paint them, you can glue on acrylic jewels, you can sew buttons on them, you can hang charms from the top edge, you can use wild strings, dont make them match, put lace around the top edge if you like. lots of glittery fabric paint can make them wild, and add to them every week, or change the colors, or get a new pair of cheap sneakers every week and decorate them in the wildest way you can think of, and become famous for your wild sneakers.

write on them using fabric markers
puff paint or 3-d paint
bedazzler
dye them
sew pieces of fabric
get them airbrushed

Color them with colored sharpie markers, rainbow of colors and it's permanent. My nieces do this. You could also pin costume jewelry to them.
