What type of package are you after?
Sky is easily the best package. They know this so they charge very uncompetitive rates.
NTL were a very user-friendly company who offered less of a package, but at a price which, pound for pound, was much better value than Sky.
Now Virgin have taken over NTL, I expect them to maintain the good value concept and add new improvements.

As a Sky customer for TV and a Virgin customer for Broadband, I am going all Virgin soon. But it is all about your own personal choices.

Also the Sky+ boxes are notoriously unreliable. I had 6 different boxes in the first year, as the first 5 failed. Other people have had similar experiences.

Virgin Media.

Your guarenteed a fixed speed broadband with no difference no matter where you are in the cable area.
Your prices are fixed - the offers they give you now are not just for 12 months - they are for the duration of the contract.
The Tv choice now lacks Sky One, Sky Sports News and Sky News and a few other channels, but according to BARB viewing figures, these channels combined only took less than 2% viewing figures for ALL of british viewing last year - Channel Five beat them, and did E4 etc etc.

You have all your bills with one supplier - no fussing with multiple Direct debits etc. Also, that means you have greater leverage with their customer service.

Their HD box is free - plus, they own it, so if it breaks down - they replace it - you have to pay for a warranty with sky and even then they may charge you for a new one if it breaks. This covers all your virgin media equiptment as well.
VM have just launched Virgin Central video on demand - including Lost and other popular Tv programmes -
They have over 500 movies on deman from 99p to £3.95
You can hook up your mobile as well with Virgin Media

Sky - I have sky (for the time being) - the movie choice is limited, the customer service menu takes ages to get through, they have Sky one yeah - but frankly Im sick of repeats of Robbie Williams on tour and Futurama on repeat - with the money Im saving on Virgin Media, ill just get the box sets!!!

Well thats my opinion!! Hope it helps!

I really do think its too early to tell. Sky is in my opinion better as far as TV go's but the cable broadband supplied by Virgin/NTL is far more superior stability wise than Sky's ADSL not to mention faster. Virgin/NTL guarentee a 10mbps service (50mbps next year) when Sky's is only "up to" 8mbps depending on quality of the telephone line and distance from the exchange for ADSL MAX and 16mbps for LLU ADSL which only about 10% of the country can get.

I would wait until Virgin have launched all of the bundle packages and then compare whats on offer.

If they operate, in your area, I would, most DEFINITELY, recommend "VIRGIN MEDIA"! There is NO WAY, that I could, EVER see myself, in a situation, to turn my "AFFECTIONS" towards that over-blown Australian SHYSTER, - RUPERT MURDOCH, - and, that "COWBOY" outfit, - aka, "SKY TV"!

Be PATRIOTIC, - buy BRITISH!
