I mean, the 11 original states of the Confederacy. Plus, if you can make a good enough case, Oklahoma and Kentucky.

It's very tough to make a case for MD, DE, WV, or MO as parts of the South.

FAVS:
1. TEXAS! No place like it! The people are great, there is just not another atmosphere with the same openness and mellowness as there is in Texas.
2. Tennessee. "Rocky Top" is a cool song, people are overall very friendly, Nashville and Memphis are cool cities!
3. North Carolina: Can you say jaw-dropping gorgeous? The scenery takes your breath away. Friendly natives.

Least favs:
1. Florida. What's so remarkable about a state with exhorbetant taxes, very rude inhabitants, and miles and miles of flat nothing between the Gulf and Atlantic?
2. Kentucky. Very beautiful scenery, yes. Southern accents and a lot of Confederate sentiment, yes. However, what I don't like about KY are its people: Clannish, sour, just outright rude at times.

I love the south. Folks here are friendly, and get offended if other people arn't friendly in return. Alot of people end up moving here. Mid-westerners, northerners, and even Mexicans find their way to see smiling faces and beautiful places, which is also the slogan on the car tags! South Carolina is my favorite and I don't mind the diversity.
I agree with Kentucky being my least favorite. I traveled thru there a few times on my way to Ohio, and the folks there wasn't very nice. Once I had to pay 50 cent to use the rest room at a gas station. Another time after my stay in a hotel and after showering my skin was irritated and red from the hard water. I'm sure it really is a great place to live, but I just had a bad exerience both times traveling.

Never been to any of those states you list. However, I don't care for the South Eastern states because of hurricanes. n
