make sure xp machine has at least 2 nics, 1 for private net and 1 for internet, first you need to setup internet connection sharing, verify that file and sharing is enabled and lead 98 to the connection, that is with no router connected. (just to make my life easier i would run network setup wizard and copy files to disk or usb and run it on 98!!!)

with a router just connect to your modem connect pcs, and some configuration on router if needed (ip conflicts, port forwarding whatever) and your good to go...

good luck on your venture...

You'll need a router and a modem. Actually, you only need the router if you dont want to always have one computer connected to the internet then connect your other computer into it to get online.

Do you use Broadband (ex: cable/dsl) or do you use dial up?
