is windows firewall a peice of crap or can i just download some other software (like zone alarm) that is even better than windows firewall?

That's what I did...
Disabled Windows Firewall and got ZA Free Edition.
Works for me!

Hello. Windows firewall, I believe, is a good thing. It is giving you protection, though of course there's tougher protection available. You could get Zone Alarm or another app, but remember there are things to deal with in that also. A friend of mine cannot tap into his network due to Zone Alarm. I'd read some reviews and tips before putting on Zone Alarm. Between Windows Firewall, antivirus and antispyware programs you'll be alright. Hope this helps.

I would continue using Windows firewall along with another (and I do) I know allot of people say not to run two fire walls but really, it doesn't slow the system down enough to speak of. Besides that I am also behind a sonic wall. The way I see it that is three walls of protection and I see no harm in performance.

It is very lame. It is not designed to keep out the better hackers. It has no outbound protection at all. Go to the Zone Alarm home page and download their free firewall.

If u are not happy with windows firewall...download another one...Just make sure you deactivate windows..You shud not have more than one firewall at a time...START...CONTROL PANEL...SECURITY CENTER...WINDOWS FIREWALL icon is at the lower part of the page....click on that

i think windows sucks also lol but i use macaffe ive heard of zone alarm i do beleive and my friend said its THE best ever

Go with the newest version Zonealarm Pro .. even Blackice is excellent too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. I have 3 firewalls in my computers. they all work great together .................
