Here are some tried and true suggestions; they really will work:

1) So you can truly relax, do 2 things first ~ plan what you are going to wear the next day and lay your clothes out ahead of time. Then set your clock radio (or CD) alarm for your wake-up call in the morning.

2) Now, get into a nice warm/hot bathtub with plenty of reading material and a cup of cocoa nearby to sip while you are reading and soaking.

3) When finished, get in your pj's and jump into bed right away with no distractions (that's why I suggested to get your clothes ready and alarm set). However, before you turn out the light you should turn your clock radio/CD to a soft rock music channel, programing it to turn itself off after 15 minutes.
4) Now close your eyes and imagine: trade your bathtub for the ocean, your pj's for a bathing suit, your soft rock channel for a steel band playing off in the distance, your hot cocoa for a pina colada, and your reading materials for a gorgeous young lady rubbing suntan lotion all over your body ...
5) You'll find these suggestions work so well that you'll be wanting to go to sleep even earlier ~ like as soon as you get home from work each day !!!!

Avoid caffeine after 3pm or so - everyone's body processes it differently, so you may need to stop ingesting it a little earlier or later. Turn off the computer and TV at least an hour (preferably 2 hours) before you want to go to bed. Get comfy, read a book, something relaxing. Create a bedtime ritual that mentally prepares you to sleep - once you've made it a habit, it will hint to your body that it's almost bedtime. Shower, wash your face, brush your teeth, whatever it is you do at night. Try to avoid bright lights and stimulating activity - stick to natural lighting as much as possible. Make sure your bedroom is used for what it's meant for - SLEEP (and the one other thing it's meant for), not an office, or a TV room, or a storage room. Make sure the temperature in your bedroom is comfortable - not stuffy, but not freezing either. Try sticking to the same (or close to the same) bedtime on weekends as weeknights... late weekend nights confuse your body. Get up at the same time every morning, or close to it. Overall, it's just about relaxing and getting yourself into the habit.

Without sounding sarcastic... Go to bed earlier!!

First thing you need to do is explore WHY you aren't able to fall asleep at night time. That is the key thing to work on.

Secondly, Chamomile tea - or tea that says bedtime on it - are very soothing and calming. Drinking these while relaxing before going to bed is a natural non-medicine way to help yourself become drowsy before going to bed.

Also, taking a warm/as hot as you want bath before bed will help to make you sleepy. Take a bath, not for the purpose of washing but simply to soak for 20min before going to bed.

You could also try going for a 'relaxation' massage in the evening to help you relax.

Good luck!

Wear yourself out during the day, get some tryptophan in your diet (turkey or milk products), set an alarm to wake you up earlier, also make it dark in the room about the time you want to go to bed.. darkness helps production of melatonin which is a natural sleep inducer! :)

healthy mind is the only answer. before going to bed sit on the bed and pray to god atleast for 5 minutes with a request to the almighty that you should get undistrubed sleep. then goto bed with your head upright, your eyes closed and mind concentrated on shunya or blue sky and see nothing but shunya or the sky. relax and relax and relax. think that you want to get up at 5 in the morning or whatever time you want to get up. try this regularly. see the magic happening to you without drugs.

good luck to you
