Not necessarily. It could have been based on pure observation. If the pot is of a different color than the kettle, then it would only be a fact, if the kettle were actually of the color black. And racism should disappear off the face of the earth anyway! All beings were created equal, so let's respect and understand one another already! How utterly stupid - discrimination of any kind! Where does anyone get the superiority designation above any other being, race, culture, religion or otherwise? The pot should learn the qualities of empathy, understanding and universal respect for all, and just because it noted the color difference between itself and the kettle, the reverse is also true! The kettle can note that the pot is of a different color! So which color reigns supreme? Neither! They both do!

No it's not. What it means is the same as you. It has been used many years back.
Why is the kettle called black- Because at onetime they used to cooked over open fire, brass pot would turn black (soot)
NOT RACIST BY ANY MEANS OF THE WORD.
PS. If you are referring to by answer on another one/s question- Then I suggest you go back and read what others have said! FAR WORSE THAN WHAT I SAID.
Don't even begin to call me a racist- That I'm not !
If you have to pull everything out of contact, then what good is answering any question.
Find a REAL question, then ask it! If did this out of fun, I wonder how you would feel if I posted something that you said, Out of fun.
NOT FUNNY!

When that phrase was coined most all pots and kettles were black like cast iron skillets. So if one fat person called another person fat,the second person could say "well that's the pot calling the kettle black!" same with any insult that could be said of the insulter

Ask Omarosa! She used that phrased when she accused someone else of being a racist on the Apprentice.

Personally, I don't think it was being racist. I don't see any white pots or kettles, really.....haha

No...Even if they could, I don't think objects could be racist because they come in infinint colors and no single color of object would be a superior race. :)

If the pot was black too, then no. If the pot was white, then he should have said African American.

it was a terracotta pot, so it would be OK, only if a white person made teh comment would it be construed as rascist.
