i have an older cj7 but the rear part of the frame near wheels are completely rusted threw and can break with one shot from a sledge hammer. is it possible to fix it or is it junk.

you could have someone weld new metal back in but it would probably cost more than what the cars worth.

Replacing the entire section of the frame is the only way to ensure you won't have an accident. There are a few ways to accomplish this. Either find another Cj7 and swap the body, have a competent welder remove the rusted section and replace it with new steel, or get an aftermarket frame (Art Morrison or one of the other manufacturers) and replace it with all new material.

If you are going to try and repair this .I'd plate the outside & box the inside to maintain structual support.
