if you create an account, you can set your profile to private, which means that nobody but the people on your friends list can see it. You can pick the people that you put on your page. IE, your closest friends, family, etc) If someone tries to add you, you always get a request from the person..if you dont kow them, or dont want them on your list, you just deny them! You can have all your comments sent to your mail so you can approve them first, and you can make it so that all your mail is set to private too, so nobody can send you innaproprate mail. Tell them this have them set it up with you, so they know what youre doing, and let them see for theirself :)

You have very smart parents who, unlike many parents today, are willing to set boundaries to protect you from some really bad stuff.

You should listen to them- and be glad that they love you enough to say no.

... I wonder if there are any questions on here from your parents wondering how they can get their kid to loose interest in myspace ;)

You know I dont see why people say its such a bad site.I have had an account for over a year now and NEVER have gotten a weird friend request or anything. Its only wh*res and sl*ts that get picked up.They're just asking for it.Anyways,I got my parents to let me get one by telling them they can check to see who I am messaging and who my friends are.THEN they agreed.good luck!

Tell them about the privacy settings that only lets your friends look at your page when they become your friend. there is also another special feature that does not let anyone request to be your friend unless they either know your last name or email address

tell them:

your teacher told you to use it.
the priest at the church told you to do it.
the kid of the family your parents admire uses it.
you read about it in the newspaper that its good for moral development.
