theres a guy from my class who is never nice to me, and last night (IM-ing) he was saying how ugly my DP (display picture) of me was. (it was a pic of me).
so today, he comes on all nice and he wants my pic! he says i can trust him, so i sent it to him.
why did he want it??
i dont get it! he PROMISED he wouldnt do anything to it, but...
i dunno!

Well there's one of two things going on here.. and unfortunately you never can tell until the truth comes out!
He either truly doesn't like you and was paying you out for a laugh... which now means he could be planning anything for that picture... not a nice thought.
Or else, he actually has a thing for you. School-age guys can be funny [as can some older ones :S], and treat you the exact opposite of how they truly feel. The fact that he bothers to talk to you at all is a bit of a bonus. By saying you were ugly, he may have been thinking that you actually look hot in the pic. Perhaps he wanted your picture to show his friends... or so he can stash it in his bedside drawer to look at later ;)
You'll just have to wait and see which it is, but try and step carefully!

A red flag is a hint that something bad could happen. He's not using your picture for anything good. No, you shouldn't have given him your picture. Consider this a practical experience with a creep and remember it. Don't do it again.

Sounds a tad fishy to me. I say you ignore him. For all you know, he could edit it into something not so nice. What's more suspicious is that he became nice to you overnight. THAT is a big warning here. I suggest you block him from your IM for the time being to play safe.

I don't know what he wants with your pic, but remember that just because someone is nice does not mean that you should do what they ask...especially when they are normally hateful to you.
