technically if you refer to a chassis, it maybe a cover most chassis is made of aluminum, in computer, a chassis may found in your cpu which covers the mother board. A motherboard may be classified as a PCB (Plastic Circuit Board), where all the components are put like reistors, capacitors, processors, PCI slots... etc.

motherboard isn't a chassis, motherboard is a Printed-Circuit-Board through which the RAM/CPU/Hard Disk/ and all other computer components communicate to each other. and the Case has a metal plate in it, to which the motherboard is screwed.
