my mom wants me to do her office pool, but i am an anti-gambler

The winner gets the money of everyone who enters the pool. She says that it's for fun. I think that it's gambling. Who is right?

Yes it is gambling since you bet your $5 to try and win more money. I know you are anti-gambling so why don't you pay your $5 do the pool and if you win then donate the money you win to a charity. That way you do something good for the community and can be proud of yourself. Or you could just say no to the pool all together.

Why are you against gambling? Like all things, gambling can be a problem, if one has an addictive personality, but if you have self-discipline, what's the risk?

Your name is "Praise God"; I see why you don't approve, but for God's sake..... have a little fun. It's just a little clean fun, and for your mom, how can you say no?!!! It is considered gambling because the results end in someone taking all the winnings, but it's not like you are in Vegas at a slot machine. This is just something to do at work.

it will only be a problem if you let gambling take over and control
yourself.
you may not know it, but everyday, you gamble. the minute you walk off the street, you gamble.

the definition of gambling is:
Intransitive verb; to bet on an uncertain outcome as a contest
with that I would have to say that you should NOT do it tell what your believes are in this matter.

its considered an illegal form of gambling, but ,it is widely done for major sporting events such as the tourney, the super bowl, and other sporting events...
