I would say Death metal, black metal has a nice raw sound to it, but death metal has more technicality, and a wider range of sound through sub-genres, and fusion metal.

i would go for death personally cannibal corpse, dying fetus and skinless are my favorites
about the only black metal i like is dimmu borgir and old mans child
