what are some good guitar amp settings in terms of tone balance, treble, mid, bass and of course volume? all of these can be set from 1-10.

It really does depend on the amp. I play a Fender Twin and those tend to be too harsh (a lot of HI's) so I like to back off of the hi's (6) and keep the middle and lo's at around 7. I also play a couple marshal combos and I like to turn the hi's to about 8 and the mid's about 7.5 with a little bottom end (5-6 on lo's)...this gives me a really nice crunch. I tend to like hi frequencies more. I play pretty brite, not as mellow as some player...but you just have to find "your" tone thats the fun of being a guitar player.

It's really going to depend on the amp as well as your guitar, the pickups, the speaker(s) etc. Your best bet is to set everything to noon and tweak from there.
