Jacoby is a nice name. Try not to let others opinions get you down.

they are a reward from him.

I hardly think the dude from Papa Roach is an influential enough dude to shape a child on the basis of a shared name. Your real problem is that you're a grown woman with children and you still have a fairly strong devotion to a marginally talented pop band. I hope for the best for little Jacoby, mind you, but you had better make sure he knows how to read by age 6 or he'll never improve his social situation.

I love the name!!!! Who cares what anyone thinks...besides, in a few years (like when your son is in school) no one will probably even know what the lead singer of Papa Roach was named....and lots of people name their children the same name that a celebrity may have (Jakob, Julia, Brad, Tom, Drew, etc) and no one says anything about their lack of identity :)

Some people may think of it.. others won't.. your child will have his own personality so I wouldn't worry too much. I had no clue who that was until you wrote in who he was named after. By the time he starts school, I'd guess that it won't be an issue whatsoever.
I'd be more concerned about the ages of your children that you'd allow them to listen to that kind of music, personally.

Thats just a bunch of crap. If that was the case than every son that has been named after his dad, or every daughter that has been named after a aunt or a grandmother does not have their own identitey. You named your child something different and uncommon, dont worry what others say.

I think that is a cute name and I would have never known that it was a famous person (I know a little girl with this name and I just thought her parents had a great original idea). Everyone shares a name with somebody and I seriously don't think there is an identity crisis!

Well, if you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have know who he was named after. The only people who will know are those you told, so don't worry about it. When he grows up, it won't be a problem. Most people he encounters won't know why you chose the name...it's not like you gave him a really high-profile name that everyone would recognize (like naming him Ozzy Osbourne or Marilyn Manson, etc.) Most people would probably assume it's a family name (like your maiden name or your mom's maiden name, etc.) You child will be fine, don't worry!

It'll be fine. As your baby develops a personality of his own, he will grow into his name, and make it a definition of him, not of Papa Roach.

Who cares what other people think about your babies name. I named my daughter Echo and I get little comments all the time. But her name suits her like your sons name suits him. Your child will have their own identiity. Dont worry about what other people think.

Don't worry about what others think. You are entitled to name your child whatever you want afterall did they go through your labor and delivery? No you did so that makes the name fine, tell them to shut up!
