I need to know, am I emo?

Question

Losts of people call me emo because I:

1. Cut my hand (ONCE! And I only did it because I was BORED)
2. I put rubberbands around my wrists because I want to see what happens.
3. I poisen myself with ink (I write on my body with sharpie and it goes through your skin into your bloodstream.
4. I cut my hair at random times.
5. I like to SAY "I love blood and smoke" (It's not a band it's just something I say for God-knows-why

I don't think I'm emo because:
1. I DISPISE emo people
2. I don't want to be emo because I think all emo people say their emo because they want attention. (Please don't hate me for saying that. I know they have reasons. It's just that my ex-BF says he is because his new GF is emo.)

Am I emo??

you're not emo, you're just masochistic. I have no idea why you say "I love blood and smoke"...but if it makes people call you emo and you hate being called emo, stop saying it.

There is no such thing as "AN emo". It's just emo. It's a genre and a style of music. I don't know how many times I've said this.
Emo is about music. MUSIC, not a person.

People who call themselves emo are poseurs and people who call others emo are also poseurs.

Emo started in the 80's and pretty much died in the 90's. You don't hear true emo music now.

And it does NOT just stand for "emotional". It stands for emotive HARDCORE. That's a genre and a noun, not a damn adjective to label people. Emotive hardcore was shortened to "emocore", which was further shortened to emo.

You don't say "I'm emo" or "she's so emo" because it won't make sense. Basically, you're just saying "I'm emotive hardcore" meaning you're a genre of music. "AN emo"= no such thing. Emo is about music.

you are who you are but this bulletin does seem a lil emoish.

1.you cut yourself once, and thats what you base your cutting experience on...trust me cutters dont want ppl to know that they are cutters...and they sure as hell would rather not have to look at the scars everyday and say i cut myself...

No, your not emo. The rubber bands? You were curious. You cut your hand? Hey you dont do it has a habit to become happier....You cut your hair at random times..I dont know what to say on that one...The sharpies? a lot of people write on their skin with sharpie, heck i know i do and im not emo...I love blood and smoke? Well, it sounds cool anyhow. I dont think theirs anything wrong with emos, i have emo friends, and anti emo friends and im still alive. :) They dont quite do it for the attention, its kind of a style. so hmmm I'll let you call on this one. But my opinion...i dont think your emo.
